Eco-Joists

Eco-Joist® beams consist of parallel stress graded timber flanges joined together with engineered V shaped galvanised steel webs. The webs are fixed to the flanges via the nail-plated zones top and bottom.

Eco-Joist® sizes are compatible with those of solid floor joists, so there is no need for expensive drawing changes. For applications requiring greater joist spans deeper beams are available.

Why are Eco-Joists® Engineered Floors so good?

  • Erected in 50% of the time required for conventional joists
  • Open web system gives almost uninterrupted access for services
  • Reduction or elimination of surface run pipework
  • Depths compatible with solid floor joists
  • Negligible swelling or shrinking
  • Can be top chord supported, reducing metalwork requirement
  • Made to measure? no site wastage and quicker to install
  • Wide surfaces? easy chipboard and plasterboard fixing
  • Open web system? no need to notch or drill for pipes/cables
  • Retro installation of additional services with minimum disruption
  • 40% lighter than equivalent solid floor joists? Easier handling on site
  • All these benefits equal Time and Money Savings
  • Requirement E2 of the Building Regulations calls for an airborne sound resistance between domestic floors of 40dB. This can be achieved by using a 219mm deep Eco-joist® with 22mm T and G Chipboard and 15mm Wallboard plasterboard.
